"Saturday Night Live" makes its 34th season premiere on Saturday, September 13th featuring Michael Phelps and hip-hop superstar Lil Wayne. [via ComingSoon] US Olympic swimming phenomenon will make his acting debut hosting the season premiere hot off his record-shattering performance in Beijing.
The "SNL" season premiere kicks off four live shows in a row, a rare practice that generated momentum for the show this past spring when the show returned after the WGA Strike-imposed hiatus. All told, seven all-new SNL's will air on Saturdays prior to the election.
Phelps went a perfect 8-for-8 in Beijing, breaking Mark Spitz's single-Games record for most gold medals won. In addition, Phelps broke another Olympics record, becoming the most decorated Olympian in history, winning a stunning 14 career gold medals. Phelps currently holds seven world records in swimming.

PROMISES, SCHMROMISES...
So, I promised that I wouldn't really try to process all of this madness until I got an extended break, but something happened today that really made me reflect. Well, I may be getting too generic. A lot of small things have happened lately that correlated into some fresh perspective. Let me explain…
We had a much-needed, much-deserved day off in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, today. I took it as an opportunity to rest myself not only physically, but mentally. The strain of trying to put everything I have into this tour, on top of the scheduling conflicts that inevitably arise from doing a record while on the road, and not to mention the crazy press commitments, have left me, and all the idols, with an almost humorous non-distinct stare as we enter the home stretch of this tour. So, today I did little but stay in bed and walk around. I went with MJ and Chik to go see "Tropic Thunder". I give it 4/5 stars. Tom Cruise was the only part I didn't like about it. Don't know why…
After the movie, we went and grabbed dinner, and then split up upon returning to the hotel. I went out to the beach, and plopped down on a chair to watch the waves and the lightning in the distance. (Hurricane/Tropical Storm/Massive Nuisance Fay) All at once, it hit me full on what has happened to me this last year. I thought about Omaha, and my brother, Andrew, and the Green Mile, and the top 12 red carpet event, and the hotel, and the finale, and this tour. It really became apparent to me at that moment that the tour will be done in about a month, and we'll all, hopefully, go on to amazing careers and lives away from this "Idol Machine" and apart from one another. After a year with these guys, that thought looms ominous and scary.
I bring all this up to make this point: There were times from the beginning of college to the time that I made the show where I truly was unsure of what I was supposed to be doing. I've been a professional musician of some degree since I was 15, but could I ever really "make it"? This last year has allotted me a new inner peace, and I'm more thankful for that than anything else. It's nice to have the title of American Idol, and the privilege of making a major-label record, but more than all of those things, I want to say thank you for the support you guys have shown, but more importantly the understanding you guys have shown to my limitations as I try to meander through this very new lifestyle of actually being acknowledged for doing something I love. I'm giving everything I can to make sure that you guys feel as appreciated as you've made me feel over the last year. Here's to many more.

when i could finally control my weeping, i decided to write a blog. I am done with Breaking Dawn. it was beautiful, captivating, wonderful and amazing. I loved it. It was more than I ever expected. Thank you, Stephanie Meyer, for writing a book that for a millisecond made me think their might be something to read that is as good as Harry Potter.

Hey guys. Sorry for the delay in updates. It’s been difficult finding the time to get a new Vlog put together, so I thought I’d write a quick blog instead. :)
We just wrapped another successful show in Pittsburgh, PA. The crowds have been great. Very responsive. VERY loud. I love it.
We’re neck deep in this record. Mr. Rob Cavallo is pushing all the right buttons and turning all the right knobs to make this record great. Just as importantly, I’m proud to announce the first addition to my band, Mr. Neal Tiemann (hereafter referred to as “Doctor”). Doctor was the chief songwriter/lead guitarist in MWK, the band I played with in Tulsa. He’s one of my closest friends and I am absolutely stoked to have him on board.
We’re putting the finishing touches on my brand new website. It will have a very cool facebook/myspace vibe to it, where you can put together your own space and interact with other fans. I think it could be a really cool way to interact with each other.
I want to address the CDs from my old band, Axium. Quite a few fans have brought these records to the shows, looking for signatures. While I am happy to oblige and am very grateful that so many have taken an interest in something I put my heart into for the bulk of my musical life, I am sad to hear both that the pricing of these records has been set at astronomical amounts purely for the sake of taking advantage of you guys who just want the music, and that the release and sale of these records was done without the consent of the chief songwriters involved in making those records. I can assure you that I play no part in the sale or distribution of these records, and neither condone nor back the people that are. Hell, we would’ve given you the music but a few years ago. Funny how things and people change…
Be sure to keep an ear to the ground, as we have to singles coming out from some of our friends. Mr. David Archuleta has a single coming out soon, and Ms. Kristy Lee has one coming soon too. So be sure to check those out and support them as well as you’ve done for me. Let’s prove to everyone else that this was and continues to be the most talented season of AI yet.

ok, this is just sad. Arrested for drunk driving after a collision with another car. Noone except Shia was hurt and he had to have emergency surgery on his hand.
Those dumb media people at like ET and access hollywood are claiming his behavior is a result of a screwed up childhood and early fame but im sorry i dont know a 21 year old that hasnt driven under the influence at 2.30 in the morning. its not that its ok but its not like he is the new nicole ritchie or lindsay lohan. I mean his dad was weird and encouraged drinking and pot on him and he has turned out way better than some of the other young hollywood people. I mean he has a great career and he is professional and he let loose and now he is paying for it.

I spent time this morning writing a blog, before this one, and came back from lunch and erased the whole thing. But on purpose. I took awhile to really think about what i wanted to say, it was very long, and took me about 45 minutes to write, in between actually working at work =). I was so happy with my decision to erase it all. When I had re-read the post, i realized i was just whining about some things on my mind. I think it has been so good for me to “blog” because it helps clear my head. I believe it is good for people to have an outlet to think about things “clear their head”. I guess since I work in an office all day, mine has become blogging. I also believe that i do not need to post things for other people to read just because its on my mind. So i was glad when it was gone. I realized i could have hurt someone. I do not agree with people saying things just because its on their mind, even if you feel strongly about it. A belief, idea, an opinion. I think you have to think about what others may take away from what you say. I know, especially with our culture today, that people would disagree. But I know for myself, i would rather try and hold my tongue than hurt or offend someone. In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, But he who restrains his lips is wise.
sorry to steal all this amy but this is awesome. i was just about to blog about some stupid stuff that was bothering me and this really made me rethink what i had vented to mills earlier. I’m glad i expressed my feelings and got it out of my head but when i read this I thought more about it could have affected mills’ day or thoughts or over all feeling right then. so mills’ i apologize if it was hard to listen to and by the way…thank you so much for being there to listen. and as much as i may try to get my feelings out in a healthier way i know ill be enlisting your listening skills more in the future so thank you in advance. and thanks amy for this post and the one you deleted that i didnt get a chance to read.
im going to try and be more of a fool who is really wise in the future. sheesh.

but of course i still listen to the song and i officially love the rest. oh except death and all his friends. thats a strange song. sometimes it sounds like 5 year olds wrote it. i dont know. any thoughts?
